Welcome to the Children’s Choir

Mission:

The goal of this ministry is to glorify God through sight, sound, and fun!

Description of the Ministry:

About Small Children in the choir, age 4:

The choir is for those children who are four years of age by January 1, and for children who are in a Pre-Kindergarten program. Members enjoy making music together by learning simple songs, body percussion, matching pitch and Bible stories. In addition to leading worship through songs monthly, the choir performs in the Christmas Program, Easter Program, and new in 2004, a Gospel Musical. The children will make trips to perform when requested. At the beginning of the year parents may sit in on rehearsals if the child is particularly shy, but we ask that you encourage your child to sit with his/her peers and their younger siblings not come in the room.

Choir members ages 5 - 8 (Grades 1-2):

Children’s Choir is another step up the ladder as children are given printed choir music for the very first time. In addition to singing, this choir spends a lot of time learning Biblical concepts and appropriate church behavior. These children are also scheduled to sing every 4th Sunday of the month during worship. In addition to leading worship through songs monthly, the choir performs in the Christmas Program, Easter Program, and new in 2004, a Gospel Musical. The choir desires to do community performances to display their faith and worship with others. Please be sure to let us know if you have family members in local retirement and nursing homes that we should try to visit.

About Choir members ages 9 - 12 (Grades 3 - 5)

The Big Time!! By now most of the children can find their way around a sheet of music, have sung about most of the stories in the Bible, found at least one favorite hymn, and are dreaming of what part they want in the annual Christmas and Easter Program, and new Musical. This group has special music they perform specific to their ages and musical level and are the leaders of the choir. They help the younger members when needed and have a goal to lead their songs vocally and directing. Please let us know of any special songs that can be performed as vocal or instrumental solos.

Overview for 2006:

Our children’s choir membership has been consistent and our voices are getting stronger everyday. We have added sign language to some of our songs, because we know not all of God’s people can hear. We have added choreography to some of our songs because we know it takes eye catching movements to get the attention of some of God’s people. We are performing better because The Lord blesses those who do God’s work. In addition to singing every 4th Sunday, the children are scheduled to perform special selections for the Christmas program, Easter program, and various community service performances.
